Which furnace is right for your home?
Gas furnaces
The most common choice on the Eastside. Affordable to run where natural gas is available, and modern condensing models reach 95–97% efficiency.
Electric furnaces
Simple, reliable and gas-free, a good fit for homes without a gas line. Higher running cost than gas, but lower install cost and no combustion to maintain.
High-efficiency (condensing)
A 90%+ AFUE furnace pulls extra heat from the exhaust before it leaves. More upfront, but it can meaningfully cut a PNW winter's gas bill.
Single vs. two-stage
Two-stage furnaces run gently most of the time and ramp up only when needed, quieter, steadier heat and fewer temperature swings.
Variable-speed blowers
A variable-speed (ECM) blower fine-tunes airflow for even comfort, better filtration and noticeably quieter operation. Worth it in most homes.
Furnace + heat pump (dual fuel)
Pairing a gas furnace with a heat pump lets the system pick the cheaper source as temperatures change, efficient heating with gas as backup.

So when you ask us "what's the best furnace," our honest answer starts with your home, its size, insulation, ductwork and how you live in it, and ends with a couple of solid options at different price points. Then the choice is yours.
